Frequently Asked Questions - UCLEAR Digital (2024)

  • Do I have to fully pair the whole group every time?

With all UClear intercom systems, you don’t have to go through the full intercom pairing process each and every time you want to pair units for intercom. Once the full pairing process has been done and all units are double flashing green, turning off all units will save that pairing into permanent memory.

From then on, you can simply turn on all units, and then hold the Volume Up button for 2 seconds on any single unit, and it will quickly rejoin intercom for all units that are turned on. Conversely, holding the Volume Down button for 2 seconds will disconnect intercom for the whole group.

  • My unit is not turning on, and it doesn't show any light on the unit when plugged into a power source.

This typically means the device is stuck in “update mode” (it thinks its plugged into a computer about to receive an update, as this mode is needed for the computer to recognize it for an update). To take the UClear out of update mode, all you need to do is connect it to the charger and press and hold the Power button, volume Up, and volume Down buttons for 3 seconds. After you release the buttons, the light should turn on indicating that it is charging. You should then be able to unplug the unit, turn it on, and continue using as normal.

  • Why am I not getting any sound through my speakers?

First, please ensure the plug is oriented correctly. On the speaker plug itself, you will see a small UClear logo. When plugged in, please make sure that the logo is on face side of the unit (the front side with the buttons). Second, please ensure that the plug is 100% seated in the control unit. The rubber can be stiff from the factory so check to make sure that the plug has been fully seated in the control unit and it can’t go in any further.

  • Why is my music/phone calls still coming through the speakers on my phone instead of the UClear?

UClear units need to be paired to the main Bluetooth on your phone and not just to the application. To pair the UClear unit to your phone’s main Bluetooth, first put the UClear unit into Bluetooth pairing mode by turning it on, and then hold both volume buttons for 2 seconds and the light should start flashing blue and red. From there, you should see the selection pop up on your phone’s main Bluetooth settings (some devices may need to ‘search’ for new pairings as they may not pop up right away. For example, if you have a Motion Infinity system, you should see the selection “MOTION INFINITY” show up).

If you see your devices name show up but it has ‘BLE’ on the end, do not select this option for the main Bluetooth. It should only show MOTION INFINITY, MOTION 6, or MOTION 4 LITE.

  • Why does my iPhone take multiple hours to download the update through the ClearLink app?

Apple products handle Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connections different than Android products. There is a limit on how much data can be transferred at one time through the BLE connection on iPhones, so this causes the download to take longer than if the download was done with an Android phone. To not interrupt the download and to make sure it has a chance to fully download, please ensure that you have sufficient time to allow the download to fully complete, so we recommend to do this update before you go to bed. Or you can do the update through the computer as well with the control unit hardwired to your computer using the provided USB charging/data cord. You can find the latest updates on our website here:

  • Where should I place my microphones in the helmet?

Microphone placement with the Motion series is incredibly important as the Advanced Beam Forming (ABF) technology requires the microphones to be symmetrical and properly placed within the helmet. For full face helmets, the microphones can be placed down by your mouth, just sticking out of the cheekpads on either side of your mouth. For modular, 3/4, and half-helmets with speaker pockets, the microphones should be placed on the inside brim of the helmet above your eyebrows, with the microphones about 4-6 inches apart. This will put the microphones just above your temples. To visually see how these should be placed, please refer to the video below on installing the microphone/speakers:

  • Which Motion models include the USafe crash detection system?

The USafe crash detection system is only available on the Motion Infinity model of the Motion series. Both the Motion 6 and the Motion 4 Lite do not come equipped with this feature.

  • I received my new AMP system, and no sound is coming through the speakers..

If you are not receiving any sound from the speakers when they are plugged in, the speaker plug has not made a fully seated connection with the controller. When looking at the speaker plug, you will notice there are 3 “ribs” on the speaker plug. Please ensure that all 3 ribs on the speaker plug arefullyinserted inside the controller. None of the ribs should be visible from any side of the controller (including the underside of the controller). Once the speakers are fully inserted, turn the controller on/off and listen for the startup “beeps” that come through the speakers.

Note: A little force may be required as the rubber on the speaker plug is stiff from the factory. The reason for this is because the seated connection makes a weather resistant seal so no moisture can get inside the controller. Over time, the speaker plug will be easier to insert while still keeping out all forms of moisture.

  • Why do my Boost 2.0 speakers sound bad and crackle when playing music?

If you are getting poor quality audio through the speakers when playing music, please make sure that the ‘Bass Boost’ feature is turned OFF through the ClearLink application. Bass Boost is a feature that is meant for previous generations of speakers (V2 speakers, Pro Microphone speakers) that didn’t have a lot of bass built in. Boost 2.0 Speakers and Pulse Pro speakers should not have this feature turned on as it can overpower the drivers when they already have extra bass built into the speakers.

  • Where can I purchase UClear products?

For purchasing UClear products, we always recommend to first check your local dealerships that carry UClear products. We are a very dealership oriented business and we want to see our supported local brick-and-mortar stores get business before having people go through our website! • Can I pair my UCLEAR with other brands of intercom communication systems?

YES! All of our systems (HBC100 Plus, HBC200, AMP Series, and all Motion Series) will be able to pair with other brands of communication systems as long as the other brand allows it as well. To pair with another brand, please check your specific systems full user manual as each system will pair slightly different.

Note: Cross brand connections will limit functionality, as the pairing acts as a ‘phone call’ between the two units which has the highest priority. Because of this, some functionality (such as Music Overlay) will be limited during intercom with the other brand.

  • Which UClear units are compatible with each other?

Almost all UClear units are fully compatible with each other and will be able to communicate through intercom without issue! The only exception to this is the original VYBE or HBC100 systems (the non-‘Plus’ version). Other than those two units, all HBC100 Plus, HBC200, AMP series, and Motion series will be able to pair together and fully communicate through intercom.

  • What Bluetooth versions do UClear systems use?

HBC Series: All HBC units use Bluetooth 2.1.

AMP Series: AMP, AMP Plus, AMP Pro, and the original AMP Go use Bluetooth 4.2. The AMP Go 2 system uses Bluetooth 5.0.

Motion Series: All Motion units use Bluetooth 5.0.

  • Why is the volume from my speakers quieter on one side?

The positioning of the speakers is very important when installed in a helmet. If you are noticing that the sound is quieter on one side compared to the other, please check the positioning of your speakers to make sure that the center of both speakers are directly over your ear canals, and they are as close to your ears as possible while still being comfortable. This will ensure you get the best possible sound out of the speakers.

For any Motion device and the AMP Go 2 (systems with Bluetooth 5.0), you should also check the Equalizer feature in the ClearLink app to make sure that the sound is coming through both speakers equally. The Equalizer feature does have a panning option so please check to make sure that it is set directly in the middle and not panned toward one side.

  • ClearLink application isn't detecting SIM card.

If the ClearLink application is opened and it shows an error message stating that the SIM isn’t detected, then it didn’t connect properly on that specific opening of the application. Please close the ClearLink app, turn off the device, and restart your phone. Once your phone is restarted, please open the application again and connect the unit and that will resolve the error message.
